Mr. Gilwood is an expert project, process, and systems engineer in chemical and biochemical environments. He has worked around the US designing and optimizing processing systems in petroleum, biofuel, chemical, and food processing plants.
Here are a few of the projects that Mr. Gilwood has successfully completed:
Adair Engineering, Grover Beach, CA – Oil & Gas Production and Processing – Process Engineering, equipment design, and optimization to support steam flood enhanced oil production, gas production, vapor recovery, steam distribution, batch distillation for crude separation. Designed and modeled fluid heat tracing system for the new asphalt production plant.
Chevron Corporation, Bakersfield, CA, Upstream Oil Production – Project Engineering/Project Management to support steam flood enhanced oil production. Process and equipment design and optimization and project planning and execution for steam distribution, well gauging, and produced water processing.
Draths Corporation, Lansing, MI, Bio-derived Chemical Intermediates – Process development for conversion of fermentation-derived muconic acid into a range of bulk commodity intermediates. Developed a pilot unit to isomerize muconic acid and worked on hydrogenation of muconic acid to adipic acid and crystallization of caprolactam. Performed process hazard analysis and risk assessment for isomerization process and hydrogenation pilot unit.
WorleyParsons, Monrovia, CA, Process/Project Engineering for Aramco refinery expansion. Designed complete 6MM lb./hr. flare system to serve 650,000 BPD of refining capacity at Ras Tanura, SA. Used ASPEN to generate relief scenario flows from refinery operations. Developed complete P&IDs, PFDs, and a full documentation package for all processes and equipment. Performed process hazard analysis and risk assessment, participated in formal HAZOP.
Process Analysts Inc., Van Nuys, CA, Designed and specified zinc injection system for alpha fermentation process at Anheuser- Busch Brewery in Van Nuys.
Dow Chemical Co., Freeport, TX, Process/Project engineering for chemical manufacturing. PFD’s, P&ID’s, computer simulations of multicomponent condensers and reboilers, mathematical analyses of molecular sieve.
